About This Tour
Amboseli National Park lies in southern Kenya near the Tanzanian border and is one
of the most iconic kenya wildlife safari destinations in Africa. It is Known as the
“Land of Giants,” the park is home to some of Africa’s largest elephant herds, often
seen marching across the open plains with Mount Kilimanjaro rising behind them—a
breathtaking sight.
The park covers an area of 392 km² and features a variety of landscapes, including
savannah, swamps, and seasonal Lake Amboseli. It is also a paradise for wildlife

Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Your kenya safari adventure will begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel
or a central meeting point in Nairobi around 6:30 AM. After a short briefing, you’ll
meet your driver/guide and fellow travellers before beginning your journey to
Amboseli. The drive takes approximately 4.5 to 5 hours, passing through scenic
Maasai territory and local towns like Emali.
During the journey, your guide will offer commentary about Kenyan culture, history,
and what to expect in the park. You’ll make a quick stop en route for refreshments or
to stretch your legs.
Arrive at your camp or lodge near Amboseli’s Kimana or Meshanani Gate by midday.
Check in to your room, enjoy a welcome drink, and have lunch. Most group safaris
use budget tented camps with permanent beds, en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets,
and running water. Power is usually available via solar energy.
Relax and freshen up before heading out for the afternoon game drive.
Afternoon
At around 3:30 PM, set out for your first game drive inside the park. Amboseli
national park is especially stunning in the late afternoon as the sun begins to cast
golden light across the landscape. Wildlife is often more active, and you may spot
elephants, zebras, buffalos, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs, elands,
bushbucks, giraffes, wildebeests, rhinos, lion , cheetah, leopards, aardvarks,
African hare and many more.
On clear days, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest
peak, standing majestically in the background. Return to camp by 6:30 PM, just
before sunset.
Enjoy a buffet dinner with your group. Most camps offer a communal dining area
where guests share stories, recharge devices, and relax. Some camps light a bonfire
for guests to sit around and enjoy the stars. Retire to your room for a good night’s
sleep.
Day 2: Full Day safari in Amboseli National Park
Start your day with a cup of coffee or tea before heading out by 6:30 AM for a
sunrise game drive. This is one of the best times to spot wildlife before the heat of
the day. With luck, you may encounter, lions returning fro a night hunt, hyenas
scavenging or birds singing for the new day.
Return to camp around 9:00 AM for a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, relax at the
camp or lodge. Some guests enjoy a swim, catching up on reading, or birdwatching
from the verandah. You can also take an optional visit to a Maasai village (extra cost,
usually costing between $20–$30 per person) to learn more about their traditions,
dances, and way of life.
Lunch is served at camp around 12:30 PM.
At 3:30 PM, depart for another game drive, this time heading toward Observation
Hill, a raised rocky area offering 360-degree views of the park, the lakebed, and the
swamps. This is a perfect spot for wildlife photography and spotting elephants,
hippos, and a variety of birdlife.
Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and another relaxing evening.
Day 3: Early Morning Game Drive – Return to Nairobi
The day start early for your final sunrise game drive at 6:30 AM. This is your last
opportunity to soak in the raw beauty of Amboseli and possibly capture the perfect
shot of elephants against Mount Kilimanjaro.
Return to camp for breakfast by 8:30 AM. After checking out and saying goodbye to
your camp staff and fellow travellers, begin your drive back to Nairobi around 9:30
AM.
You’ll retrace your journey through the scenic plains and arrive in Nairobi by 2:30 to
4:00 PM, depending on traffic and road conditions. Drop-off is at your hotel,
residence, or airport, marking the end of your group safari adventure.
