Here is a detailed 5-day Kenya safari itinerary covering Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, and
Tsavo East— These are some of the country’s most visited National parks in Kenya
for game viewing and birding safaris .This are usually mid-range itinerary includes
park entry fees, accommodation, meals, transportation in a 4x4 Land Cruiser, and
professional guiding.
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Distance: ~160 km
Driving Time: 3–4 hours
The day will start by a pick up early in the morning in Nairobi by your safari guide
and begin your journey northwest to Lake Nakuru National Park through the Nairobi -
Nakuru highway. Along the way, enjoy a short stop at a viewpoint over the
escarpment. You are set You arrive at the park at around midday, followed by check-
in at your lodge or camp such as Lake Nakuru Lodge, Ziwa Bush Lodge, or Sarova
Lion Hill.
After lunch have some rest before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Lake
Nakuru is best known for its flamingos (which line the lake’s shores in large flocks,
depending on season Lake Nakuru is also a sanctuary for the endangered black and
white rhinos, which are often seen grazing along the shores of the lake. Other wildlife
includes lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and a huge variety of

Day 2: Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park
Distance: ~380 km
Driving Time: 7–8 hours
After an early breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru for Amboseli National Park which is
located near the Tanzania border and popular for its views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The drive takes most of the day but is scenic, passing through rural Kenya, small
towns, and sections of the Great Rift Valley.
You’ll arrive in Amboseli National Park by late afternoon. After check-in at your lodge
or tented camp (choices may include AA Lodge Amboseli, Sentrim Amboseli, or Kibo
Safari Camp), enjoy a short evening game drive if time allows. Amboseli is known for
its large herds of elephant, which often move across the open plains with the
backdrop of the snow-capped Kilimanjaro this creates an awesome wildlife
photographic opportunity.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay under the shadow of Africa’s
tallest mountain.
Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Amboseli National Park
Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives with optional visit to a Maasai village
Rise early for a morning game drive, when most predators are active and Kilimanjaro
is often clear. Amboseli’s ecosystem consists of open plains, acacia woodland,
marshes, and swamps, drawing a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions,
cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeests, buffaloes, warthogs, and a diversity of birds species.
Return to your lodge for lunch and some rest, followed by an afternoon game drive
or an optional visit to a nearby Maasai village, where you can learn about traditional
customs, dance, and way of life of the Maasai people.
Spend the evening enjoying your dinner.
Day 4: Amboseli to Tsavo East National Park
Distance: ~200 km
Driving Time: 4–5 hours
After breakfast, check out and drive eastward to Tsavo East National Park, one of
Kenya’s oldest and largest parks. You’ll enter the park through the Manyani or Voi
Gate, arriving around midday. Check in to your lodge or camp with some of the
popular safari accommodations such as Voi Safari Lodge, Ashnil Aruba Lodge, or
Satao Camp) and have lunch before an exciting afternoon game drive.
Tsavo East National Park is known for its vast open landscapes, red-earth terrain,
and famous “red elephants” (coated in the region’s distinctive dust). Game drives
here offer chances to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and
herds of elephants. You may also spot crocodiles and hippos near the Galana River.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Tsavo East to Nairobi (or Mombasa – Optional Drop-Off)
Distance to Nairobi: ~325 km (5–6 hours)
Distance to Mombasa: ~150 km (2–3 hours)
Enjoy an early morning game drive in Tsavo East, catching predators on the hunt
and animals gathering at waterholes. After breakfast, begin your return journey to
Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon for a hotel drop-off or airport transfer.
Alternatively, if you wish to extend your trip to the coast, you can be dropped off in
Mombasa or at Moi International Airport, which is closer—offering the perfect beach
