The Masai Mara's resident wildlife makes a single full day genuinely productive. The Seronera Valley lion prides, the Mara Triangle cheetah, and the river hippos are present year-round. The Masai Mara conservation fee alone is USD 100 per adult per day between January and June, and USD 200 per adult per day between July and December. Fix: Day 1 is a transit day. The full game drive is day 2. Knowing this in advance allows you to arrive relaxed and ready for the 06:30 day 2 departure, which is the most important moment of the safari.

Mistake 2: Not telling the guide your wildlife priorities at dinner on day 1

Fix: Dinner on day 1 is when the guide plans the day 2 route. Tell your guide clearly what you most want to see: a cheetah hunt, Migration river crossing positioning, leopard in a tree, or lion with cubs. The guide then builds the day 2 route around your stated priorities.
