Effective date: June 2026
Governing law: Republic of Kenya
Applies to: All bookings made with Katulu Africa Safaris
These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings made with Katulu Africa Safaris for safari tours, transfers, excursions, and related travel services. By making a booking with us, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms. We recommend that all clients read them carefully before proceeding.
1. Prices
All prices quoted include all expenses as outlined in the respective itineraries. Where an item is not listed in the itinerary, it is not included in the price. Clients are advised to review the inclusions and exclusions stated in their specific itinerary before confirming a booking.
Note: Park entry fees set by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) are subject to periodic revision by the relevant government bodies. Current fees are confirmed at the time of booking.
2. Transport
Transportation, transfers, excursions, and tours are conducted by our safari vehicles, which include 4×4 wheel drives, safari minivans, and saloon cars, depending on the nature of the service and the number of passengers. The type of vehicle assigned is at the discretion of Katulu Africa Safaris unless a specific vehicle type has been agreed in writing.
All vehicles are maintained in roadworthy condition. In the event of a vehicle breakdown, Katulu Africa Safaris will arrange a replacement vehicle as quickly as reasonably possible.
3. Bookings
A deposit of 30% of the total cost of the safari is required to confirm any booking. No booking is confirmed until the deposit has been received and a written booking confirmation has been issued by Katulu Africa Safaris.
The balance of payment is due in full, in cash or by the agreed payment method, at the commencement of the safari unless alternative payment arrangements have been agreed in writing.
Note: The person making the booking accepts these terms on behalf of all members of the travelling party.
4. Payments
All safaris must be fully paid for before commencement. Payment can be made by bank transfer, M-Pesa, or such other methods as may be agreed at the time of booking. All bank charges and transfer fees are the responsibility of the client.
Prices are quoted in United States Dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated. Where payment is made in Kenyan Shillings, the prevailing exchange rate at the date of payment applies.
Receipts are issued for all payments received. Clients are advised to retain proof of all payments made.
5. Safari Orientations
Unless a safari is booked as a private safari, clients will share safari facilities, vehicles, and game drives with other guests on the same itinerary. This is the standard format for group joining safaris.
Clients on group joining safaris are advised to be considerate and cooperative with their fellow guests. Safari travel brings together people of different nationalities, customs, and habits. An open and good-natured attitude is part of the experience.
Clients who require exclusive use of a vehicle and guide throughout should book a private safari. Please contact us to discuss private safari options and pricing.
6. Changes in Itineraries
The sequence of activities in an itinerary is normally adhered to as stated. However, Katulu Africa Safaris reserves the right to make alterations to itineraries where necessitated by weather conditions, road works, high season congestion, park access restrictions, or any other unforeseen circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Any alterations requested by the client to an agreed itinerary must be communicated to and agreed by the Katulu Africa Safaris office in writing before the safari commences. The company shall not be held liable for any dispute, complaint, or additional charge arising from changes agreed between a client and a safari guide in the field without the prior knowledge and consent of the office.
Important: Changes agreed verbally between a client and their guide during the safari are not binding on Katulu Africa Safaris and may result in additional costs that are the sole responsibility of the client.
7. Cancellation
If a booking is cancelled by the client, the following cancellation fees apply, calculated as a percentage of the total tour cost:
Notice Period | Cancellation Fee |
No show (failure to appear on departure day) | 100% of total tour cost |
1 to 7 days before departure | 75% of total tour cost |
7 to 14 days before departure | 50% of total tour cost |
More than 14 days before departure | 25% of total tour cost |
All cancellations must be made in writing to info@katulusafari.com. The date of cancellation is the date on which written notice is received by Katulu Africa Safaris.
Important: No refunds are given for unused services, unused accommodation nights, or partial completion of an itinerary due to personal circumstances including illness, injury, or late arrival.
Note: We strongly recommend that all clients purchase comprehensive travel insurance with cancellation cover at the time of paying the deposit.
8. Liability
The liability of Katulu Africa Safaris to passengers carried in its vehicles for transfers, excursions, and tours is governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. All claims arising in connection with services provided by Katulu Africa Safaris are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
Whilst every care is taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients, Katulu Africa Safaris shall not be held liable for loss of or damage to personal property during a safari, transfer, or excursion. Clients are strongly advised to arrange comprehensive travel insurance that includes cover for personal belongings.
Katulu Africa Safaris maintains a safe deposit facility. Clients are advised to deposit valuables with the facility for safekeeping during their stay.
Note: Safari activities take place in wild natural environments. Wildlife is inherently unpredictable. Clients must follow the instructions of their guide at all times when in national parks and game reserves.
9. Sub-Contracting
Katulu Africa Safaris reserves the right to sub-contract any part or the entirety of a safari to a licensed third-party operator. In the event of such sub-contracting, all terms and conditions set out in this document shall apply in full to the sub-contracted services.
Sub-contracting does not affect the client’s rights or protections under these terms. Katulu Africa Safaris remains the primary point of contact and responsibility for the client’s experience.
